Pembrook Laptop Stand

Good laptop stands are usually either overpriced or overdesigned with features like loud fans or hinges that are never quite right. So when I spotted the Pembrook Clip Laptop Stand for sale at Aldi for around $7.99 AUD, I decided to give it a try for my home office. Here’s how it performed!

Unboxing

The packaging is a thin compact and recyclable cardboard box which outlines the stands key features as-well as featuring a high quality picture of the stand.

Inside, you’ll find two bamboo side pieces and a white plastic rod that slots into and joins them together to create the laptop stand. Assembly takes a few seconds and doesn’t require any tools other than a little strength. It’s a little bit of a shame they used a white painted rod instead of a natural finish that blended in and kept the modern natural look.

Performance & Impressions

Despite its simple construction, the stand performs surprisingly well. Once clipped together, it creates a solid platform that does not creek or flex and holds the laptop at a comfortable 15° typing and a viewing angle. The incline helps reduce neck strain during longer sessions or the need to be hunched over when typing.

For the 15.6″ laptop we used as pictured, the stand keeps it securely in place and the protruding clips are not excessively to large to make use difficult or to short where it risks sliding of.

One unexpected benefit is that by keeping the laptop off the desk and allowing unobstructed airflow under it, the laptop runs cooler and quieter. For me having the laptop slightly off the desk helps further protect it from spills, an unfortunate situation which claimed the life of the laptop before!

It’s worth remembering, that there are no adjustable height or tilt settings, so the 15° angle is fixed. It works fine for me, but if you’re looking for more customization, you might need a more premium stand or to sharpen up your carpentry skills!

Final Thoughts

Like with most items at Aldi, the Pembrook Clip Laptop Stand is a simple, functional product that does exactly what it promises for a very affordable price. It’s materials are sustainable which is a plus and it looks shockingly modern.

While it may not replace a full-featured ergonomic stand and mult-monitor setup for office, it’s a smart buy for students, remote workers, or anyone trying to upgrade their desk setup on a budget.

If you spot one at Aldi and working on a laptop, it’s definitely worth picking up!
